1911-2011 Combat Survivor Commemorative Bowie |
Designed and created by Mark Knapp Custom Knives. This knife, donated to Friends of NRA for the 2011 National Convention in Pittsburg, PA on April 29, 2011 by Mark Steele Knapp of Mark Knapp Custom Knives, Fairbanks AK, Scott Hamann of Metal Magic, Kenai AK. It has an eight inch blade of 154CM high carbon stainless steel donated by Jantz Knife Supply. The stainless steel grip frame was supplied by Caspian Arms. The knife has handle scales of premium blue mammoth ivory.
The clip from the knife is fully functional and interchangeable in a 1911 .45. The door of the compartment is a diamond hone for sharpening. Inside the clip in the handle is; a Leatherman Micro, a magnesium and flint fire starter, a needle for sewing, a length of synthetic sinew for snares, fishing, sewing, a bow string etc. and fish hooks. It has capacity for a .45 round and a flashlight is attached to the lanyard.
Only ten knives of this design have been created, with this one boasting several unique features including the custom grips. The other nine knives will be available at Alaska Friends of NRA events.

Coming soon, working versions of the Combat Survivor, pictured below right, are scheduled to begin production in late 2011.

| Alaskan ulus
These ulus, individually handmade by owner Mark Knapp, are both practical and beautiful. Choose from a variety of handles made from laminated sheep horn, musk ox horn, moose antler, fossil ivory or exotic wood, each distinctly different and each with a matching stand. The blade of the ulu is cut from a circular saw blade, polished, sharpened and ready to use or put on display. Those marked "unavailable" are samples of ulus we can build for you, or you may buy one of the others listed.

| Knife-making and carving materials
